Local runners earn All-Academic honors at Wartburg College
Wartburg College runners Ashley Bloomquist (Fairfield Graduate) and Lexi Brown (New London Graduate) both earned individual and team recognition honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), being named All-Academic Athletes for the 2023 NCAA Division III Cross Country season.
According to a news release from Wartburg College, the women’s cross-country team posted a GPA of 3.67 in 2023, making it the 18th straight season the Knights have earned the All-Academic team award (2006-Present). Both Bloomquist and Brown are fifth year students and will graduate in May.
On the men’s side, Wartburg College runner Lance Sobaski (Washington Graduate) also earned earned individual and team recognition from USTFCCCA for All-Academic Athletes for the 2023 NCAA Division III Cross Country season. The Wartburg men had a team GPA of 3.33. According to the college, this is the first time the men’s cross-country team has won this award since the 2020 season, and the 16th time in program history.
