Locals earn accolades at college

BUENA VISTA

Buena Vista University congratulates more than 100 students who graduated in the Fall of 2021. Local students who graduated include:

Jakeup Huff from Richland graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in history (5-12 teaching licensure).

Karen Pate from Fairfield graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting and business (management track).

Sarah Smithburg from Fairfield graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education.

Jenna Wittrock from Richland graduated with a Master of Education in teacher leadership, curriculum, & instruction (effective teaching & instructional leadership track).

Cassaundra Vaughn from Mount Pleasant graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in accounting and business.

Sarah Shimon from Washington graduated High Distinction with a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education.

DMACC

Des Moines Area Community College President Rob Denson recently released the names of students eligible for the Fall Semester President’s List. To be eligible, a student must have completed a minimum of six credits and earned a 4.0 grade point average for that semester

DRAKE

The following local students have been named to the Deans' and President's Lists at Drake University.

Fairfield: Clare Else, President's List; Claire Epperson, President's List.

Washington: Anna Miller, President's List; Meghan Newman, Dean's List.

AUGUSTANA COLLEGE

Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, announced more than 1,000 students were named to the Dean's List for the 2021-22 fall semester.

Local students on the list were:

Kelsey Notestein of Mt. Pleasant; Victoria Zaragoza of New London; Gwendolyn Flannery of Washington; and John Flannery of Washington.

NEBRASKA

Laurel Hilger of Fairfield has been named to the Dean’s List at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for the fall semester of the 2021-22 academic year.

Hilger, a senior majoring in chemical engineering and computer science, was named to the Dean's List for the College of Engineering.

GRACELAND

Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, has announced the Fall 2021 graduation list.

Local students graduating were:

Emily Jo Ellis, from Richland, graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner).

Daloris Carol Sylvester, from Hedrick, graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing (Family Nurse Practitioner).

CLARK UNIVERSITY

Beatrice C. Winn, of Fairfield, was named to second honors on the Clark University Dean's List in Worcester, Massachusetts.

MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY

Logan Hanson of Washington is among the outstanding undergraduates who have been named to the Dean's List at Millikin University for the fall 2021 semester.
