As part of their fall fundraiser Raise Craze, based on Acts of Kindness, Maharishi School is once again conducting a Shoe Drive through October 12. Shoes will be collected at the Fairfield Farmers Market this Saturday, September 24, and on Saturday, October 3. The gently worn and used shoes should be in good condition with the soles intact, clean, no holes, yet still have life left in them!
All donated shoes will be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise partners, helping them create, maintain, and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited. Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected are used to feed, clothe, and house their families.
Maharishi School will also earn funds, as Funds2Orgs will issue a check for the collected shoes based on total weight. Those dollars will benefit student scholarships.
"We are excited about our shoe drive," said Laura Bordow, Development Director. "We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they would like to donate. By doing so, we not only raise money for student scholarships, but also have the chance to help families in developing nations. It is a win-win for everyone.”
