Maharishi School Middle School students plan Empty Bowl event Jan. 22

The Maharishi School 8th graders are hosting a charity event to donate to a local organization to help feed the hungry and to an International Organizations helping the Ukrainian Refugees: from 11:30 to 2:00 on January 22nd at the Maharishi School courtyard kitchen.

With the help of Maharishi School Faculty, the students will prepare a variety of delicious organic soups, and vegetarian chili to serve in beautiful ceramic bowls – yours to keep!

For $25, you can enjoy soup, chili, bread, cookies—and keep the ceramic bowl.

The Empty Bowls project began about 32 years ago as a non-profit organization, but in January 2016, the Maharishi School hosted the event for the first time.

Once again this year, the students and teachers plan to build on the success of the prior years’ events. There will be three different soups to select from (Carrot Ginger Vegan Soup, Tomato Vegan Soup, or Broccoli & Cheddar Soup) and vegetarian chili. The soup and chili will be accompanied by bread and a variety of cookies.

The ingredients used for cooking are all organic — donated by Everybody’s Market; and the bread will be donated by Breadtopia Bakehouse. The students and parents are baking a variety of cookies.

Each student is required to create ceramic bowls and all the bowls are inspected by their Ceramic-experienced teacher. Additional bowls will be available at $25.00 each.

This Empty Bowl Event brings our communities together to raise awareness and funds to reduce growing food challenges in Jefferson and surrounding counties, and in Ukraine. All proceeds will be donated.
