National Volunteer Week is April 14–20, making it the perfect week to honor all those who serve.
Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) of Jefferson County will host an ice cream social from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, April 18 at the Fairfield Community Center at 209 South Court Street. Members will share their experiences, which include serving at some of the 22 nonprofit agencies in Fairfield who accept volunteers from RSVP.
The public is welcome to attend and enjoy an ice cream cone while they listen to the stories. They are also welcome to ask questions and, if interested, sign up to become a volunteer themselves. John Miller, coordinator of the program for Jefferson County, says that he has nearly 70 volunteers presently serving, anywhere from a few hours annually to 10 or more hours per week when special projects arise.
Miller can be reached at 641-919-4242 for more information.
