SHERIFF REPORT: Wednesday, July 10, 2019

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office reports the following:

Friday

1:43 a.m. - The sheriff's deputies investigated driving under the influence and other offenses at Ninth and Kirkwood. At 3:38 a.m., Robert Jay Henry Jr., 26, of Fairfield, was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated-first offense and operation without registration.

Tuesday

8:11 a.m. - A two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1700 block of Ash Avenue. A 2015 Ford F25 pickup, driven by Tucker Douglas Black, 23, Batavia, was southbound. The gravel road conditions were dusty and Black did not see the 1995 Freightliner semi, driven by Terry Lewis Whicker, 55, of New Sharon, slow down as it began to traverse up a hill. Black's pickup struck the rear of Whicker's semi trailer. Damages were estimated at $15,000 to the pickup and zero to the semi. According to the report, neither driver was injured.
