Imagine saving money on your energy bills while making money and contributing to a cleaner planet! It's not a dream; solar energy is hitting mainstream America and people are putting dollars in their pockets.
Solar power is on the rise in Fairfield, as it's becoming a cornerstone of the local business landscape. As more businesses see the benefits of harnessing the sun's energy, the city is experiencing a surge in solar installations.
As you drive down Burlington Avenue in Fairfield, you'll notice a remarkable transformation: a growing number of local businesses have caught on to solar power, with panels gleaming on rooftops and in backyards. Fast food, banks, groceries and pharmacies are all reaping the rewards while helping to reduce our carbon footprint.
Kessel's Conoco on Fourth and Burlington has been a family-owned gas station and auto repair shop since 1946. It’s a prime example of the benefits of solar energy. Ten years ago, Steve Kessel, the second-generation owner, saw an opportunity to reduce the costs of his electric bill, earn some cash and make a positive environmental impact.
Despite the initial investment, Kessel's decision to install solar panels has proven to be a wise one. Now with government incentives and affordable financing options, the upfront costs have become more manageable for accessing this gem of passive income. The results have been impressive: during the summer months, the gas station's electricity bill dropped from $400 to $100. Any excess solar energy is bought back by the electric company, further increasing savings. The savings are highest in the summer when there are long days of sun, but Steve still gets a significant benefit all year round.
Across the street is Dave Smithburg's Automotive. Dave is the owner of three automotive businesses in Fairfield which all have solar panels. “They have some great tax write-offs and it gives me a better resale value. The best part is that I’ve had a 200 percent return on my investment,” says Dave.
As the cost of solar panels continues to decline and government incentives continue to increase, it is expected that even more Fairfield businesses will adopt this sustainable energy source. Clean energy is growing at a rapid pace, and solar power is emerging as a particularly attractive option for businesses in Fairfield. By investing in solar, local businesses can reduce their energy costs and support a sustainable future. Furthermore, adopting solar technology can help businesses differentiate themselves in the marketplace, attract environmentally conscious customers and set an example for others to follow.
As the demand for clean energy continues to increase, solar power is poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future. By embracing this sustainable energy source, local businesses can contribute to a healthier planet and a more prosperous community and lead the way for other communities to invest in a green future. With the potential for significant savings on energy bills and a positive impact on the environment, solar power presents a bright future for our city.
