My Monday morning and work week began with people going out of their way to be supportive of the school. First, I opened a letter from Deb Swan at the Libertyville Farmers Coop, notifying me she had nominated the school for a Keep Rural Schools Growing Grant from Monsanto. Julie Manning and Jennifer Anderson had done this as well.
Then I had the pleasure of a visit from Ken Norton, a retired Fairfield Community School District bus driver. Mr. Norton was making a gift of two very well preserved 1940 quill books. This was very timely because this quill was memorializing the construction of the ?new? Fairfield High School, which is poised to receive quite a facelift the next year-and-a-half! I know Mr. Norton spent a number of hours at an auction last weekend to secure these little treasures, and I really appreciate it! Fairfield is a great place to work and learn and live, and the thoughtfulness of people in the community and surrounding area is one of the things that contributes to the quality of life here. Thank you to everyone for the thoughtful things you do.
? Art Sathoff, Fairfield Community School District superintendent
