Treasurer recommends early payment of property taxes

Fairfield’s Homecoming football game is Friday, Sept. 30, which also happens to be the last day people can pay property taxes without penalty.

Jefferson County Treasurer Mark Myers said his office gets a pretty good rush on that day, especially in the afternoon. Myers said he wants the public to be aware that, given the large number of people on the square for the pep rally that afternoon, it would be wise to pay property taxes in advance by paying online at www.iowatreasurers.org, through the mail at P.O. Box 308, the office’s drop box near the north doors of the courthouse, or just by paying them in person before Sept. 30.

Could you put something in the paper and online letting folks know that, with the influx of people that will be on the square for the pep rally, hopefully they can plan ahead and pay online (www.iowatreasurers.org), through the mail (PO Box 308), use our drop box located by the north doors of the courthouse, or by paying in-person before September 30th?
