Give me a break! Now the City Council wants to charge a $40 fee to the volunteers who provide refreshments for the people attending the summer Municipal Band concerts. There are six concerts in the season; do you really think the Ladies Circle will make anything selling root beer floats after paying $240 in fees? How about the group that sells homemade ice cream and cookies ? will they see a profit?
I am a member of the Municipal Band and these groups have been faithful providers for our concert goers over the 25 years we have been playing. They are doing us a favor by helping to make the Tuesday night experience a slice of ?good old Americana? for all involved. The Municipal Band does not need the ?right to refuse? a vendor if ?it doesn?t fit the theme.?
To the City Council ? find another way to make up for the shortfalls in the city?s coffers. Do not put it on the backs of church groups.
