Werner Elmker to hold piano concert Jan. 17 in Fairfield
Jan. 11, 2024 3:42 pm
Fairfield pianist and composer Werner Elmker will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17 at Golden Magnolia Sanctuary in Fairfield.
Golden Magnolia Sanctuary is located at 200 S. Main St., in the former First Presbyterian Church.
Werner described the upcoming concert as a “delightful inner journey with improvisational, classical and popular piano music.”
Over the years, Werner has made a deep impression in Fairfield with his many artistic skills. Increasingly known for his magical photos and videos of Fairfield life and nature, Werner is also able to create magic on the piano with his refined musical touch and improvisational skills.
One concertgoer commented, “Your sound has a special quality of silence, no matter how loud or soft you are playing. It is cumulative. The silence gets deeper and deeper, and I notice the whole audience sinks into it together, so that by the end, no one can move or speak. The silence is so tangible, you can cut it with a knife!”
Werner Elmker moved to Iowa in 1985 and has performed extensively for the local community in Fairfield, as well as in other areas of the U.S. and Europe. He holds a doctoral level degree in piano performance from the Royal Danish Music Conservatory. Werner emphasizes the importance of improvisation and being in the moment as the main source of creativity and great music.
Pay what you may. Suggested donation: $20. All concert proceeds benefit the Golden Magnolia Sanctuary.
