William and Linda Briggs to celebrate 60th anniversary

William “Bill” and Linda Briggs of Fairfield will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with an open house from 1-2:30 pm Aug. 5th at the McElhinny House.

William M. Briggs and Linda J. Philips were married Sept. 7, 1963 at Keosauqua Methodist Church, with the Rev. E.S. Tschetter officiating.

Bill retired in 2003 after more than 29 years of service with the Fairfield Community School District. Linda retired in 2010 from the Fairfield Water Department after more than 31 years of service.

Bill and Linda traveled extensively in their retirement including some of their most memorable, Canada, Alaska, Panama Canal, and the Canyons of the Southwest.

Both of the Briggses are active members of the Fairfield Kiwanis Club.

The open house will be hosted by the couple’s children and their spouses, Rick and Billie Cornell of Sunset, SC; Jack and Amy Greene of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Tod Briggs of Kansas City, KS.

Bill and Linda have six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
