2 area teams unbeaten in conference play
HLV-TC goes 2-0 in SICL play

Two area teams remain undefeated in the early stages of conference volleyball play this season following this week’s results.
Montezuma is off to a 2-0 start in the South Iowa Cedar League, while Williamsburg is 2-0 in WaMaC West play.
Here is a look at some area action on the week.
Bravettes sweep EV
NORTH ENGLISH — Montezuma got win number nine on the season Monday, sweeping English Valleys in set scores of 26-9, 25-11 and 25-21.
The team had 22 kills, 10 coming from Sydnee Burgess. Chloe Snook had 13 assists.
Tigers sweep Colfax-Mingo
MARENGO — Iowa Valley started its South Iowa Cedar League slate with a 3-0 sweep over Colfax-Mingo, all in close sets.
The Tigers took the sets by scores of 25-21, 29-27 and 25-23.
Maeci Marshall led the way with 12 kills, Kamryn Wittenback had nine.
Olyvia Grant had 24 assists as the Tigers got their second win of the season.
HLV-TC triumphs over Keota
KEOTA — A balanced offensive attack saw the Warriors win in four sets over Keota Monday. After dropping the second set, the Warriors followed with 25-11 and 25-13 set wins.
Nicole Gensley led the way as one of four players with six or more kills with 15.
The team also had 13 aces.
Plainsmen trio leads way in sweep
NORTH ENGLISH — Allison Hoover had 9 kills, Carly McLeod and Jules Stamp each had seven, and Belle Plaine swept English Valleys Thursday night.
The Plainsmen won two tight sets, winning set one 27-25 and the final set 25-23.
Keota sweeps Iowa Valley
KEOTA — Keota swept the Tigers in this SICL matchup Thursday.
Upcoming for the Tigers is a busy Saturday at the Lisbon Invitational, where they will play six matches.
Warriors finish week 2-0
THORNBURG — HLV-TC finished their week 2-0 in SICL play with a four-set win over Colfax-Mingo Thursday.
The team had impressive stats across the board with 49 kills, 10 blocks and 15 aces.
Raiders sweep Trojans
FAIRFIELD — Williamsburg finished their week 2-0 (6-0 in sets) in a sweep at Fairfield Thursday.
The Raiders won by set scores of 25-19, 25-22 and 25-15.
