2 teens die in Poweshiek County crash

MONTEZUMA — Two teens are dead following an automobile accident north of Montezuma at Ewart Road and Highway 63 Saturday.
According to a report by the Iowa State Patrol, a 2015 Jeep Wrangler was eastbound on Ewart Rd at 5:30 p.m. when the driver, Andrew J. Buttler, 18, of Freeport, Florida, failed to stop at Highway 63.
The Wrangler collided with 2016 Jeff Renegade driven by George J. Wegner, 51, of Judsonia, Arkansas, at the intersection and came to rest in a cornfield.
Two rear-seat passengers in the first vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, Aaliyah Martin, 18, of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Sydney E. Andersen, 18, of Grinnell. They were the only two not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, according to the crash report.
Buttler, Wegner and Martin Contreras, 18, of Hinsdale, Illinois, were injured and taken go Grinnell hospital by Montezuma ambulance.
