3 area players receive unanimous 1st-team honors

Three area players received unanimous first-team selections in South Iowa Cedar League all-conference softball selections released Wednesday.

Those players include HLV-TC’s Ayla Hall and BGM’s Karagyn Minnaert and Ryanne VanDee.

Hall batted .423 for the Warriors while playing shortstop defensively. The senior also stole 28 bases this season.

Karagyn Minnaert was second for the Bears this season in RBIs (25) while batting .380. VanDee hit .308 while leading the outfield from center with 29 putouts and a .909 fielding percentage.

Eight other area players joined them on the first-team list.

Three of those played for Iowa Valley: seniors Izzy and Lydia Kriegel and eighth grader Olyvia Grant. Lydia led the Tigers in RBIs (25) and batting average (.464)

Two English Valleys athletes made the list. Taylor Mikesell was selected as catcher and led area players in average (.491) with 26 hits. Freshman Anna Luers hit .408.

Montezuma’s Chloe Snook rounded out area first-team honorees. Snook hit .382 for the Bravettes and totaled 25 putouts from the outfield.

Ten more area players received second-team honors for a total of 21 all-conference players.
