Absentee ballots available

Absentee Ballots are available from Poweshiek County Auditor Melissa Eilander beginning July 15, for the Special Rural Improvement Zone Election to be held August 6, for permanent residents of Holiday Lake.
A voter may request a ballot by either completing a State of Iowa Official Absentee Ballot Request Form or write on a piece of paper no smaller than three by five inches the following information: Name of voter, voter ID number (Iowa driver’s license or non-operator ID number or four-digit voter PIN), voter’s address, address to which the ballot should be sent, if different from voter’s address, voter’s date of birth, date and/or name of the election for which the voter is requesting a ballot and voter’s signature.
The completed request can be mailed to the Auditor’s Office, P.O. Box 57, Montezuma, IA 50171.
The last day the Auditor’s office can mail out a requested ballot will be July 22.
The forms can be downloaded from the Iowa Secretary of State website: www.sos.state.ia.us.
Absentee voters may also vote in person at the County Auditor's office beginning July 15 until Election Day.
Courthouse hours are 8-4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
