Agency awards sign, facade grants

MARENGO — Iowa County Community Development recently announced the awarding of three sign and façade improvement grants to local businesses.

The grants will support the businesses in their efforts to enhance the exterior appearance of their buildings and contribute to the visual vitality of their communities.

Iowa County Abstract, of Marengo; Switzer and Wilson Counseling Services, of Marengo; and bARe Skin Bar, of Williamsburg, were recipients of the grant money.

These projects demonstrated clear plans for impactful exterior upgrades that align with ICCD’s mission to foster vibrant, thriving communities across Iowa County.

Improvements will include signage enhancements, façade repairs, and other exterior upgrades that support local commerce and preserve the character of our built environment.

ICCD received 11 applications requesting nearly $40,000 in funding. After a competitive review process, the ICCD grant review committee selected three projects for partial funding.

Each award requires a 50% match by the business owner, ensuring that local investment is paired with ICCD support.

“These grant funds were meant to incentivize our businesses to maintain and improve their curb appeal, which in turn supports economic development and community pride,” said Laura Sauser, Community Director for Iowa County Community Development.

"If we could have funded all of the projects, we would have, but we have a limited pool of funds."

While not all applications could be funded this round, the interest and enthusiasm from business owners highlight a strong demand for future investment in our communities.
