American Legion Hall progress update
Jul. 19, 2023 3:28 pm
To the Editor:
Progress is good at the new Legion site. As of this writing, the steel roof is on, window frames installed, electricians are hard at work and foam insulation of the roof is completed. Next will be the steel on the exterior walls, restroom plumbing and heating and AC installed. A lot has been done and a lot needs to be done. I want to thank Tom Voigtman, Jim Johnson and all the contractors staying on top of this project.
Originally our projected cost was $1.3 million. It has been revised downward to $1,132,480, reducing the estimate by $167,520. Not often does this happen. To date we have raised $932,480, $200,000 short of goal to have everything we want including new appliances for our kitchen.
If anyone would like to donate to help us complete this project, please send your donation to American Legion Post 76, 1240 Lafayette Ave., P.O. Box 232, Marengo, Iowa 52301. The names of those who donated $500 or more will be put on our donor wall.
Inside the new Legion dust is flying and progress is being made. Outside, dust is flying from folks driving past, anxious to see the progress being made. With your help, soon the whole community will enjoy this new facility. Any questions, call me at (319) 642-3426.
Morris Denson, Commander, Post 76 American Legion
