Area towns note July 3, 4 activities

Amana
The Amana community will celebrate the Fourth of July with the following activities at the Middle Ball Park:
7:30 a.m.: breakfast for free will donation to support youth group mission trip to Pine Ridge Reservation.
9 a.m.: Church service to honor the country.
2 p.m.: Baseball usually happens at this time and is expected to again.
5 p.m.: Iowa's biggest potluck. Those attending from Middle, High or West Amana, bring a salad to share; East or Amana, bring a dessert, and Homestead or South, a side dish.
6 p.m.: Dogs on Skis will perform.
“Dark-thirty”: Fireworks over the Lily Lake.

Belle Plaine
Independence Day celebrations in Belle Plaine kick off on July 3 with the following events:
Car show: 4 to 8 p.m., registration open at 3, $15 fee.
Kids Zone: 4 to 7 p.m.; $10 wristband; inflatables and games.
Corn hole tournament: 5 to 8 p.m.; registration opens at 4 p.m.; $20 team.
Street dance: 8 p.m. to midnight, featuring Last Call Party Band.
All activities will be held on Main Street.
July 4 activities are as follows:
8 a.m.: 5K run or one mile walk/run; registration at the high school; sponsored by BP Athletic Boosters; for info and early sign up, contact Clara Kienitz, (319) 530-6222 or ckienitz@belle-plaine.k12.ia.us
10 a.m.: Parade on 12th Street (Main Street); parade marshals are Belle Plaine Health Care Professionals and Volunteers.
The following will take place in Franklin Park:
12 noon: Flag raising.
12 noon to 3 p.m.: Kids firefighting game and temporary tattoo booth, sponsored by BP Lions Club.
12 noon: Midway games and rides.
12:30 to 3 p.m.: Bingo, by BPHS Music Boosters.
1 to 5 p.m.: Dollar swim at BP City Pool, everyone welcome.
1:30 p.m.: BPHS FFA kiddie tractor pull; register at 12:30 p.m. at the tennis courts; for more information, contact John Daniels, (319) 444-0705.
4 p.m.: Cow chip bingo
Evening: Fireworks, sponsored by the Belle Plaine Lions Club.
Additional events:
Raffles: Sponsored by the July 4th Committee and BP Lions Club, many great prizes; grand prize, $250 cash; tickets available at the gate on July 4.
Rolle bolle tournament: 1 p.m. in Franklin Park; $5 per player entry fee; contact Jason DeBrower, (319) 210-2035.
Slow pitch coed softball tournament: July 3 and 4; time TBD
Live band: Sage, 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. by the beer tent
Food tents: Belle Plaine Athletic Booster Club, main food booth; Belle Plaine American Legion, snow cones and funnel cakes; July 4th Committee, beer tent.
Marengo
Marengo’s July 3 celebration includes the following:
5K run walk: 6:30 a.m. race day registration; 7:30 a.m. start time; start/finish north side of city square; awards given after race at the bandstand; sponsored by Leanne’s School of Dance.
Horseshoes: 10 a.m. at the horseshoe pits northeast of the square; prior registration required.
Food vendors in the park: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Kids’ activities: 1 to 5 p.m. on Marengo Avenue and Court Avenue; rock wall, dunk tank, obstacle course, slide, Genoa Bluffs train; pedal pull — 1 p.m. registration, sponsored by Just Automotive; $15 wristband for unlimited access.
Leanne’s School of Dance: 3 to 3:45 p.m. on the bandstand.
Tyler Richton and the High Bank Boys: 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on the city park bandstand.
Car show: 8 a.m. to 12 noon registration; 12 noon to 1 p.m., voting; 2 p.m., trophies; at IV Elementary, 151 May St.; coffee and rolls provided by PEO; sponsored by Carquest.
Bags tournament: 11:30 a.m. registration; 12 noon start; Washington Street on city square; hosted by Ambies.
Mentalist: 12:30 p.m., IVHS auditorium, free admission.
Rolle bolle: 1 p.m., no registration needed, rolle bolle court, northeast of square.
Little Miss and Mr. contest: 2 p.m. registration by bandstand; 2:30 p.m. contest on the bandstand.
Parade: 5:30 p.m.; lineup starts at 4:30 p.m.; no registration required; begins at south end of Court Avenue, north to North Street, west to Western Avenue, ends at Compass Memorial Healthcare.
Fireworks: at dusk at Gateway Park, three blocks north of city square; seating west of football field.
July 3 activities are sponsored by Compass Memorial Healthcare, the City of Marengo, S & J Sanitation, Just Automotive, USA Communications, The Back Porch, Farm Bureau Financial Services, Brian Miller Excavating, Grinnell State Bank, Big G and Lizzie’s Dining Car and Caboose Bar.
Williamsburg
July 4 activities in Williamsburg include:
7 to 11 a.m.: Kiwanis pancake breakfast at the fire station
11 a.m. to 12 noon: Navigation Play family Olympics in First Square Park
12 noon to 4 p.m.: Kids activities at Just Automotive
12 noon to 3 p.m.: Free admission to the Williamsburg Aquatic Center
2 to 4 p.m.: Lions Club road holdup.
4 p.m.: Line up for parade; St. Paul Lutheran, ice cream in the park.
5 p.m.: Parade
Dusk: Fireworks at the rec ball fields.
