Artist to exhibit painting in Amana

AMANA — Renowned local artist David Garman will exhibit his series “A Prophecy in Paint” during regular Homestead Church Museum hours from Sept. 21 through Sept. 29.

An opening reception will he held Friday, Sept. 20 from 6:30-8 p.m. at the Homestead Church Museum.

These large-format narratives represent the focus of Garman’s life’s work, according to a press release from the Amana Colonies Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Now 29 years in the making, these were last shown in Iowa as a solo show at the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art Iowa Galley in January of 2000.

Many new pieces have been added since then, some never before seen by the public, the press release said.

Along with the finished oils, this show will include preliminary and comprehensive drawings giving an idea of the creative process.
