IGHSAU, IHSAA release assignments for state-qualifying track and field meets

The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union and the Iowa High School Athletic Association jointly released this season’s state-qualifying track and field assignments Tuesday afternoon.
The co-ed qualifying meets will be held Thursday, May 15. The state meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines will be May 22-24.
There will be eight hosting sites in Class 3A. The top two qualifiers in each event will advance to state at each site as will eight at-large qualifiers.
Class 1A, has 10 hosting sites. First-place finishers in each event automatically qualify and 14 at-large qualifiers will be selected.

Class 3A
At Mount Vernon
Teams — Benton, Grinnell, Mount Vernon, Newton, Solon, South Tama, Washington, Williamsburg
Class 1A
At Lisbon
Teams — Belle Plaine, Bellevue, Calamus-Wheatland, Central City, Don Bosco, Easton Valley, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Lisbon, Midland, North Cedar, Prince of Peace, Springville, Valley Lutheran, Waterloo Christian
At Lynnville-Sully
