Bears pick up second win

The English Valleys Bears picked up their second hoops win of the season, and the second over Tri-County, 60-35 Jan. 30, in Thornburg.

English Valleys lost to North Mahaska Thursday, 97-34, and to Woodward-Granger Saturday, 66-27.

Against the Trojans, Everett Bender led with 17 points and AJ Bruns had 16 points and 15 rebounds. The other games were not reported.

The English Valleys girls improved to 12-8 with wins over Columbus, 45-29, Jan. 29, and over Belle Plaine, 53-29, Feb. 3.

The Bears also lost a home game to No. 13 North Mahaska Feb. 1, 51-23.
