Believers to perform Sept. 29

The Believers, a community chorus from Marengo and the surrounding communities, will present a concert entitled “Lead Me to the Rock“ Sept. 29 at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, 902 Marengo Avenue, in Marengo.

The chorus, founded 40 years ago, was an outgrowth of leadership from the late Linda Goad, choir director of the Marengo Methodist Church. The group has presented dramas and seasonal cantatas as well as special programs and church services and makes a concerted effort to sing at the area nursing homes regularly.

The Believers chorus is under the direction of Jane Fry, of Marengo, and consists of about 20 choristers from Amana, Cedar Rapids, Deep River, Homestead, Marengo, Millersburg, Newhall and Williamsburg.

The public is invited to attend the free concert of gospel music.
