Belle Plaine native John ‘Nash’ Villers donates music awards to hometown

BELLE PLAINE — Nashville musician and Belle Plaine native John “Nash” Villers recently donated his two Australian trophies — one for Songwriter Of The Year and the other for Song Of The Year — to Belle Plaine Area Museum,
Two plaques and a picture of Villers performing are now on display in the music room at the museum.
Tasmania Australia OZCMR Country Music Radio recognized Villers as International Songwriter of the Year in 2021, with six No. 1 songs, including "Slow Down Cowboy," "Bikinis are Bloomin’," "Swimmin’ Pool Hill" (a song about Belle Plaine’s swimming pool), "If Love Went Viral," "Waiting in the Wings" and "Liquid in a Bottle."
"Slow Down Cowboy" easily won Song of the Year after spending six weeks at No. 1 and charting for 36 weeks.
Villers will be in town for the Fourth of July celebration as well as for his 50th class reunion.
Villers is a 1974 graduate of Belle Plaine High School and currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee where he continues to perform and write new material.
