Benton Community school election set for March 5

Voter pre-egistration deadline is Feb. 19 for the Benton Community School District Special Election that will be held Tuesday, March 5.
The election asks voters to approve levying a Physical Plant and Equipment Property Tax and Income Surtax.
Voters should register at their county auditor’s office.
Polling hours will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Middle Amana Fire Station, 2725 K. St. in Middle Amana.
Voters may register at the precinct on Election Day if they have moved and not changed their addresses before the Feb. 19 deadline.
To register on Election Day, voters must provide proof of identity and proof of residency and sign an oath. This process will take extra time at the polling place.
Voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place in order to vot. Voters who are not pre-registered or who have changed precincts also may be required to provide proof of residence.
Any voter who cannot show ID may have their identity attested to by another registered voter in the precinct who has proper ID. For additional information about voter identification visit sos.iowa.gov/voterid or phone 319-642-3923 Option #0.
Anyone wishing to vote absentee before Election Day may do so by stopping in the auditor's Office Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. starting Feb. 14.

Voting equipment testing will begin Thursday, Feb.22 at 10 a.m. at the East Courthouse Annex in Marengo.
