VINTON — Benton County Supervisors want to sell an old animal shelter. The Board discussed the shelter with Benton County Conservation’s Shelby Williams during a meeting July 23.
Williams asked about moving forward with selling the property and whether the proceeds would go to the general fund or to county conservation.
The property is less than one acre and was donated to Benton County Conservation years ago. Supervisor Tracy Seeman suggested splitting the proceeds between general and conservation funds.
The board voted to use the money for conservation projects at Wildcat Bluff Recreation Area in Center Point and Rodgers Park in Vinton.
Williams also discussed the REAP grant agreement and staffing. The Board signed the single federal audit.
Mona Onken, with social services, discussed the access hub contract and rate sheet. Supervisors approved both.
Supervisors signed a plan for bridge replacement on 26th Ave. Dr. in Taylor Township northeast of the Vinton quarry. The project will be let in November.
A rural Benton County resident discussed his driveway and road concerns and the use of concrete and asphalt with the board.
Another resident talked about dust control with Benton County Engineer Myron Parizek and the impact of increased traffic on a county road due to the Highway 150 project.
Phil Borleske of Benton County Historic Preservation Commission sought information from the board about working space. Borleske said the commission “lost its digs” and wondered where they can put their filing cabinets.
Seeman pointed to equipment in the conference room for use by the commission.
