VINTON — The Benton County Board of Supervisors approved a fireworks permit after another had been suspended due to a burn ban.
The Iowa Pyrotechnic Association requested a fireworks permit for Nov. 16. Supervisors assumed the burn ban will be lifted by then. The permit was approved, pending approval by the fire chief.
The board accepted the resignation of Crystal Northup as full-time communication specialist and hired her as a part-time food service custodian for $19.51 per hour.
Shelby Williams gave the annual report for Benton County Conservation and talked about getting a truck equipped with spray equipment for integrated roadside management.
Supervisor Tracy Seeman gave an update on the radio communication project, stating that he felt the process is dragging. Final acceptance might not happen until January.
The meeting closed with discussion with a resident on truck traffic on a gravel road. Chairman Richard Primmer said he’d check with the sheriff.
