VINTON — The Benton County Board of Supervisors approved the hiring of Alyce Lynch as a full-time clerk in the auditor’s office during its regular meeting Aug. 12.
Lynch replaces a clerk that recently retired. Her salary will be $40,000 a year.
Supervisors held a land use hearing for William Hines for a residence in Section 25 in Taylor Township, two miles east-southeast of Vinton. Hines asked Supervisors why he had to pay a $500 application fee to put up a house where a house used to be. “That’s my property,” he said.
Barb Fetzer, with the land use office, explained that the preexisting status ends after three years, so Hines has to reapply. It’s part of an ordinance to promote orderly growth.
Supervisors approved the land use change.
Supervisors set a land use hearing for Tuesday, Sept., 9, at 9:15 a.m. for Ryan and Jennifer Rozek, for land in Section 16 in Benton Township.
The board discussed additional office space for Abbe Center at the Benton County Service Center and set the monthly rental rate to $850 per suite.
