Benton County crash injures 2

ATKINS — Two people were injured in a traffic accident in Benton County Feb. 12, according to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol.

Alexis Gonzalez, 25, of Cedar Rapids, was southbound on 33rd Avenue south of Atkins and pulled onto Highway 30 into the path of Star Horak, 48, of Marion who was westbound on Highway 30.

Horak, driving a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse, struck the driver’s side door of the 2014 Mazda Gonzalez was driving.

Gonzalez was taken by ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids; Horak was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Iowa City.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Tegeler Wrecker and Crane in Cedar Rapids.

The accident was still under investigation as of Feb. 15.
