Benton County Supervisors approve agreements

VINTON — The Benton County Supervisors approved several agreements during their July 2 meeting in Vinton.
The supervisors approved entering into a 28E agreement with Polk County for housing inmates.
The board acknowledged Mark Johnson’s retirement from the Sheriff’s Department effective Aug. 8. His last work date is July 4.
The board entered into 28E agreements with the City of Vinton, the City of Belle Plaine and the City of Urbana for dispatch services.
The board approved entering into 28E agreements with the City of Vinton, the City of Belle Plaine and the City of Urbana for sharing law enforcement mental health liaison services.
The board approved the Utility Permit for Farmers Mutual Telephone to expand its services into Monroe Township.
The board approved the Utility Permit for MidAmerican Energy for a pipeline in Eden Township.
The board discussed the Van Horne/Blairstown Corner on Highway 30, regarding lights and rumble strips.
The board approved the fireworks application from the Watkins Community Athletic Association for July 5. The rain date is July 6.
Supervisors approved a contract for Terry Phillips for consulting services for a restoration windows workshop for the Benton County Historical Society Preservation Board.
Supervisors also discussed terminating the contract for the Certified Local Government Grant. The board chair signed the letter of termination for the grant.
