VINTON — It again was routine business for the Benton County Board of Supervisors at their meeting, Tuesday, July 18, at the service center conference room in Vinton.
A farm exemption was approved for Dennis Junge for land in Parcel A, Section 3, Kane Township. He plans to construct a new dwelling. It is on the existing parcel where his home is. Supervisor Richard Primmer had questions about the form that was used for this and the reason for claiming an exemption.
A farm exemption was approved for Wes Kaufman for land in Section 1, Homer Township. This is also for a new house.
The board approved having Supervisor Chairman Tracy Seeman sign a letter of support to Benton County Conservation to apply for a 2023 REAP grant. Seeman suggested having all three supervisors sign the application, which they did.
The board accepted the resignation of Erika Hodgson from the landfill commission.
The board accepted the resignation of Jonathon Gingerich from the weed department.
Peggy Schott and Russ Glime were appointed to the historic preservation commission.
The board approved having the Vinton Kiwanis/Boomtown use the courthouse grounds on Aug. 26.
The board approved a resolution for committing funds in accordance with GASB (Governmental Accounting Standards Board) 54.
Closed session
A closed session was held at the close of the meeting pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(1)(i) to evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring, performance, or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless and irreparable injury to that individual’s reputation and that individual requests a closed session. Sheriff Ron Tippett made the request for one of his employees. The employee was not at the meeting.
