VINTON — The Benton County Board of Supervisors agreed during its March 12 meeting to help fund an emergency vehicle for Florence Township.
Florence Township Trustees discussed the purchase of an off-road rescue vehicle, side by side and related equipment using Local Option Sales and Service Tax funds.
Marj Becker, of the fire department, said the vehicle will help with blizzards and muddy fields. It also will have fire suppression equipment and a place for a stretcher. Emergency workers can use it when they reach an emergency site by ambulance.
The county board approved giving up to $7,694.94, which is 10% of the cost.
In other business, the Board of Supervisors approved the first tier canvass of the special Benton Community school election and acknowledged postelection audit findings from the election.
Melinda Schoettmer, county treasurer, asked permission to close the driver's license space in her office April 4-5 and the motor vehicle space April 18-19 to facility installation of new counters.
The board approved use of the courthouse lawn for Vinton Cruise Committee Sept. 21, 2024.
