VINTON — Benton County Supervisors raised the credit card limit for the human resources department during a meeting July 9.
Supervisors discussed raising the limit from $2,500 to $5,000. This led to a discussion on credit card policy for the county, invoices, vendors, taxes and fees.
The raise is for implementation of an HRIS program, which charges $3,200 a month.
The board approved raising the limit to $6,000 limit until the end of September.
Supervisor Tracy Seeman also wanted to be sure the county is not paying a sales tax on the service. He also wanted to see the background check service turned into a vendor.
The board approved a Class E Retail Alcohol License for Beyond Getaway at Lazy Acres and approved a quarterly report for the auditor.
A fireworks permit was approved for Iowa Pyrotechnic Association for July 20.
Seeman said the conservation department is working on REAP grants. Wildcat is getting an engineer for the park’s shower house.
Supervisor Gary Bierschenk asked about conservation and the Atkins rail area. Seeman said they are in talks with the city about what to do.
Sheriff Ron Tippett said radios are installed and working well. The sheriff’s department will do a driving test, making sure the radios work on every mile of Benton County, Seeman added.
After the meeting, Dave Sires introduced himself as a Republican candidate for State Senate for District 38, which covers the northwest part of the county.
