VINTON — The Benton County Board of Supervisors set several hearings during its July 8 meeting.
The board set a land use hearing for Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 9:15 a.m. for Jeremy and Stacy Koopman for land in Section 33, Benton Township.
A public hearing was set for Aug. 5 for a fiscal year 26 budget amendment.
The board accepted the resignation of Jennifer Zahradnik from the Benton County Solid Waste Commission and Civil Service Commission and tabled a decision on the contract between Benton County and ISG Group Inc. for gas line inspection. The latter is on the agenda for July 15.
The board approved the resolution for wage and classification change for Donald Erger in secondary roads and approved claims, minutes, the treasurer’s semiannual report and the sheriff’s quarterly report.
Supervisors were told that the intersection of Highway 30 and the Van Horne/Blairstown road will get a stop sign light with a sensor that activates the light when a vehicle is sensed. Engineer Myron Parizek said he hopes to work around this so the light is consistently blinking.
The Department of Transportation questioned the need for the flashing light on the stop sign because there are already flashing “Stop Ahead” signs, said Parizek.
Supervisor Ron Tippett said that because of the amount of school traffic the road has, the county should do as much as it can for that intersection.
