BGM earns 3 first-team selections
Wright, Alcott highlight area first-team honors

Two area baseball players finished their careers with South Iowa Cedar League first-team honors. All-conference selections were released Wednesday.
BGM’s Tucker Wright was selected as a catcher, and Belle Plaine’s Ty Alcott as a infielder. Both had solid senior seasons.
Alcott batted .482 with 31 RBIs and threw 50 strikeouts from the mound. Wright led the SICL in stolen bases (34) while batting .312 and batting in 17 runs.
Five other area players joined them on the first-team: BGM’s Jacksyn Bullers and Beau Burns, Belle Plaine’s Wade Sankot, Iowa Valley’s Mason Hoyt and Montezuma’s Luke Erselius.
Erselius and Bullers led the area in terms of innings pitched and total strikeouts. Erselius totaled 47 1/3 innings with 74 strikeouts; Bullers pitched 45 1/3 innings with 82 strikeouts.
Wade Sankot tied for first in the SICL in batting average at an even .500, with Burns right behind at .494. Hoyt led Iowa Valley in RBIs with 29.
Seven other area players received second-team honors. BGM led the area with five selections. Sigourney had the most in the SICL with eight.
