BGM’s Lint, Iowa Valley’s Hawkins advance to State
6 area wrestlers qualify for State

A total of six area girls wrestlers will be competing next week in the State Tournament at Xtream Arena in Coralville.
In addition to four Williamsburg qualifiers, BGM and Iowa Valley each add one in Class 1A.
Midland Regional
WYOMING— Fresh off a conference title, BGM’s Amiah Lint extended her season for one more week, qualifying at 120 pounds Friday in a regional at Midland.
Lint, the No. 2 seed, won her first two matches by first-period falls to advance to the final.
Highland’s Adley Sweeting defeated Lint in the final, but Lint automatically qualified as runner-up with no wrestle-back at the weight.
Shyla VanNevel added a third-place finish at 125 for the Bears, who finished 12th as a team with 58 points.
Wapello Regional
WAPELLO— Friday’s Regional in Wapello was a meet of almosts for Iowa Valley and English Valleys, who had a combined five third-place finishers who missed State by just one place.
Raelene Hawkins finished runner-up at 170 and advanced for Iowa Valley. Hawkins is now a four-time state qualifier.
The Tigers finished eighth as a team with 90 points, and English Valleys tied for 13th with 43.
