Big Band swings into Amana

AMANA — Rod Pierson’s Big Band with Craig Boche is coming to the Amana Performing Arts Center Sunday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m.
The Amana Performing Arts Center is located at 39 38th Ave, Amana.
A Swingin’ Christmas with Rod Pierson’s Big Band, sponsored by Compass Memorial Healthcare, will be an evening filled with hoppin’ and rockin’ holiday tunes that will get everyone into the holiday spirit, according to a press release from TKM Theatrical Productions.
The Rod Pierson Big Band is a 13-member band comprised of world class musicians and a legendary music library of swing, big band, jump, ballad and contemporary charges, the press release says.
Pierson’s experiences as a musician include long term stints with The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, The Moe Band, Hunter Fuertes’s Vintage Orchestra and the Guy Lombardo Orchestra.
His jazz credits include performances with Woody Herman, Natalie Cole, John Pizzarelli and Ann Hampton Callaway.
Pierson has backed popular artists such as Aretha Franklin, Burt Bacharach, The Temptations and Bob Hope.
Boche has given countless performances in venues all over the Midwest.
