There are so many great provisions in the One Big Beautiful Bill, including historic improvements to child care access and affordability.
This is one of the top issues I hear about as I travel through our district. I hear from moms who want to go back into the workforce but can’t find child care that makes sense financially, and from small businesses who struggle to find workers because of child care accessibility issues.
That’s why Republicans put child care affordability and accessibility front and center in the One Big Beautiful Bill.
Let’s start with the historic tax relief for working families. Aimed at improving the accessibility and affordability of child care, the One Big Beautiful Bill enhanced the following tax credits:
● The Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit
● The Dependent Assistance Program, and
● The Employer-Provided Child Care Tax Credit (45 F)
45F was outdated, and businesses were not able to take advantage of the credit. Through these changes, we are ensuring more businesses can provide child care for their employees.
By making permanent increases to the CDCTC, we are directly targeting and helping low- and middle-income working parents offset the cost of child care.
And to put it in perspective, CDCTC and 45F have not been permanently updated since 2001. Since then, child care costs have increased by 263%.
DCAP has not been updated since 1986. Strong families are the cornerstone of a strong society and a strong economy, and the One Big Beautiful Bill is the key to driving stability for working families, our workforce, and our communities.
I was proud to work to secure these pro-family wins in the bill. And remember, when Democrats were in power — they hired IRS agents to come after working families. Republicans under President Trump used this opportunity to provide relief to working parents across this country … and we are just getting started.
I voted for President Trump’s rescissions request to codify $9 billion in DOGE savings and slash woke programs.
President Trump is the first president to actually deliver on real savings for the American people and end the culture of unchecked wasteful spending in Washington. He knows you work hard for your money, and I'm proud to fight alongside the president to ensure not a dime of it is being wasted on things like male circumcisions in Mozambique, gender diversity in the Mexican street lighting industry, Sesame Street in Iraq or Left-wing propaganda at NPR and PBS.
I will never stop fighting for a smaller, more efficient, and more accountable government. Let's make D.C. run a lot more like Iowa.
It was a pleasure to join President Trump, Small Business Administrator Kelly Loeffler, and my House colleagues at the White House. We are delivering permanent tax cuts and bigger paychecks for Iowa families, and America is well on her way into her Golden Age.
My team's day was made getting to join Retrieving Freedom for their tour stop in Dubuque. Retrieving Freedom trains service dogs for veterans with disabilities and children with autism.
This organization is near and dear to my heart, and in 2023, we partnered with them and TSA in Iowa to show inconsistencies in security screening for service animals.
My team also had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Crystal Group and learn more about how Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs) have benefited them. These plans are investments in the people who work the hardest to drive success and have been vital to strengthening our local economy.
I'm proud to advocate for ESOP policies in Congress.
