Bobcats squeak by Raiders 60-58

No. 14 Williamsburg lost to No. 8 Benton Community Friday, Dec. 15, 60-58, in Van Horne.
The Raiders led 47-44 after three quarters, but the Bobcats won the final quarter, 16-11.
Sophomore Zoe Allen scored 23 points to lead the Raiders, hitting 11 of 16 field goals and 1 of 3 free throws.
Junior Makenna Hughes added 14 points, including two three pointers in as many tries. Carly Rich, a junior, added 10 points.
For Benton Community, senior Emma Townsley scored 26, going 8-for-17 from teh field and 8-of-9 from the line. She hit two of five 3-point attempts.
Senior McKenna Kramer scored 12, including three 3-pointers, and Piper Nelson, a senior, added nine.
Defensively, Williamsburg’s Kennedy Skaggs pulled in five rebounds and had one steal, Allen grabbed four rebounds and Rich had four rebounds and a steal.
On the boards for Benton, Townsley got 10 rebounds, Nelson six, and Aubrey Kelly, a sophomore, four.
The Raiders were 52% from the field and 62% from the line. The Bobcats shot 80% from the line but only 39% from the field.
Both teams kept the ball close, giving up only 16 turnovers total, seven for Williamsburg and nine for the Bobcats.
The Raiders (4-3) bounced back for a big win over Washington, 65-29, Saturday in Williamsburg. Game stats for the Raiders were not available at press time.
