MONTEZUMA — For the third-straight season, the Montezuma girls basketball team will be playing for a trip to state.
The Bravettes defeated Melcher-Dallas 66-26 in a Class 1A Region 6 semifinal Friday night.
It was all Bravettes from the git-go. They led 38-10 at half.
“Our team played very collective on Friday night,” Montezuma coach Janel Burgess said.
Nine players scored in the win, led by Ellen Cook’s 20. Shiressa Wetering posted 16, and Claire Erselius added 11 with three three-pointers.
Next up is the regional final, which be played in Indianola against Lenox (19-5).
“We are eager to head to Indianola to play a very scrappy and seasoned team in Lenox,” said Burgess. “This team has rose to every challenge we have had, and I know Wednesday night we will play together, hard and know our fans will follow us.”
