MARENGO — A lawsuit filed against C6-Zero Feb. 5, 2024 was dismissed without prejudice April 28.
Cody and Taylar Blasberg filed the suit in 2024 alleging negligence against C6-Zero, Brandlich Assests, Brandlich Construction, Howard and Dylan Brand, Tim Dore, Heartland Crush, Jeffrey Buresh and others after an explosion and fire at the Marengo plant Dec. 8, 2022.
Cody Blasberg was working for Deep Lake Outsourcing when he was told to fix a conveyor belt that had been stuck, according to court documents. C6-Zero instructed him to open the bottom hatch of the sealed machine while it was running, to avoid shutdown, the lawsuit said.
Blasberg was standing in the conveyor’s open hatch when flammable vapors ignited and he was severely burned, according to the lawsuit.
A trial had been set for January of 2026.
