Call to rein in the president

An open letter to Rep Miller-Meeks, Sen Grassley, and Sen Ernst.

Please exercise your ability to provide oversight into Trump's unconstitutional actions, both internationally and domestically. As you plainly see, he is out of control. Unaccountable.

By acquiescing to his unilateral declarations of war (however he may dress it up as law-enforcement) you diminish your authority and relinquish your purpose as an elected representative. You have a job to do. Have the courage to meet the moment.

History will record whether or not you stood for your principles and values. We don't imagine that you condone what he is doing, because it violates every constitutional safeguard our Founders created. He does not represent Republican or conservative interests. He acts on whim and personal interests.

Before we slip further into autocracy please act as a representative of the people who elected you. Surely you know that we do not support unilateral war-making. Nor do we support domestic police activities that arbitrarily arrest and kill our citizens.

This is surely not the Country you envisioned. You swore an oath to defend the Constitution. Please take your oath seriously and use your office to assert vital checks and balances on the presidency. Your constituents will be grateful, and you will have the satisfaction that you did the right thing.
