Camp Courageous seeks donations from area residents
Aug. 10, 2023 10:38 am
Do you hate to part with things that have sentimental value? Would it help if you knew giving them away would make life better for some very special people? The Knights of Columbus and Victor Lions have joined together to help Victor area residents find a good home for items they no longer need, and to support the programming at Camp Courageous.
Sept. 29 and 30, Victoria Hall, (Knights of Columbus Hall,) Victor, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for area residents to donate to help Camp Courageous. Items to be accepted include gently used or new furniture, clothing, housewares, games, toys, DVDs, CDs, players, books, bicycles, jewelry or bed frames. Organizers say the goal is to fill the Camp Courageous semi.
At the end of these two days, the items donated will be taken to the Camp Courageous Manchester Garage Sale warehouse. This garage sale is run year around completely by volunteers with all profits going to support Camp Courageous programs and services.
For those who are unable to bring their donations to the hall, there will be a pickup truck available. Call (319) 647-2255 either day to schedule pickup. Camp Courageous cannot accept the following items: nonworking electronics, broken furniture, printers or computer items, mattresses or box springs, appliances, light fixtures, or exercise equipment.
Camp Courageous, located near Monticello in Jones County, provides mentally or physically challenged people of all ages with a camp experience including boating on the lake, crafts, a zip line, and much more.
