WILLIAMSBURG — A traffic accident resulted in minor injuries for a driver and passenger in Williamsburg Sunday.
Williamsburg police say that at about 3:30 p.m. March 9, a 2017 Toyota Camry hybrid driven by James Anthony Hester, 75, of Clive, pulled into the parking lot of Casey's at 130 W Evans St. in Williamsburg. Hester was going to pull into a handicap parking space on the southwest side of the building.
According to the police report of the accident, Hester looked toward his passenger, Candy Moorman Hester, 77, of Clive, for assistance in locating their handicap placard to hang from the rear view mirror, and his foot slipped off the brake pedal and onto the accelerator pedal.
The vehicle went over the curb, and made contact with the exterior southwest wall of Casey's. All airbags deployed, and the vehicle sustained functional damage to the front end of the vehicle and a spiderweb crack in the upper passenger side of the windshield.
Both the driver and passenger complained of chest pain and were transported by Iowa County EMS to Compass Memorial Hospital in Marengo.
