Cities plan Memorial Day services

American Legion Post 76 and the American Legion Auxiliary of Marengo will conduct a Memorial Day ceremony May 27 at Marengo Cemetery at 10 a.m. Following the ceremony, activities will move to Gateway Park for the Naval recognition service and placement of a wreath in the waters of the Iowa River.

The group will spend the rest of the day with resident of the Rose Haven Nursing Home, south of the screened porch. The public is invited to all events.

Millersburg American Legion Post 521 will hold a Memorial Day service at Millersburg Cemetery at 9 a.m. In case of rain, the service will move to the Millersburg City Hall and Fire Station.

The Auxiliary will serve refreshments following the service.

The Williamsburg VFW and Auxiliary will conduct a Memorial Day service at 10 a.m. at the Williamsburg fire station, 102 Fire Ridge Dr. in Williamsburg.

North English Memorial Day Services are set for 11 a.m. at the North English Cemetery. Bill Grimm will speak. The American Legion Ross T. Hadley Post 488 and local Girl and Boy Scouts and the English Valleys High School band will help with the services.

In the event of rain, services will move to Gene’s Gym.
