City approves bid to resurface tennis, basketball courts

MARENGO — The Marengo City Council approved a bid of $32,188 from Tennis Surfaces of Iowa to resurface the public tennis and basketball courts by the city pool.

The project includes cleaning and preparation of 1,600 square yards of asphalt court surface, installing court patch binder on exiting cracks and water pooling areas, sanding cracks and installing acrylic resurfacer over all patch work.

The company will install two layers of acrylic resurfacer over the entire space, according to the cost estimate, because the courts have a lot of pitting due to rocks and driving on the surface.

Two coats of color will be applied to the surface — stadium blue for the courts and grass green in nonplaying areas.

New lines will be painted with white textured line paint.
