Clarahan shows grand champion market goat

SIGOURNEY — The 2024 4-H and FFA Goat show was held July 18 at the Keokuk County Expo Fair.
Purple and blue ribbons were awarded to Haylea Oostra, Ben Flander, Emily Sieren, Luke Sieren, Layken Lee, Trig Lee, Reagan Clarahan, Izzy Heisdorffer, Landon Clarahan, Eleanora Ferrell, Hannah Hanselman, Conner O'Rourke, Allison Mather, Sawyer Cason, Lane Cason and Joshua Martin.
Landon Clarahan, with English Valleys FFA, showed the overall grand champion market goat. Izzy Heisdorffer, with Riverside 4-H Club, showed the reserve grand childmpion.
Taking third place for overall market goat was Reagan Clarahan, of Sigourney FFA. Trig Lee, of Liberty Leaders 4-H Club, placed fourth.
Layken Lee, with the Liberty Leaders 4-H Club, won the overall grand champion breeding goat. Overall reserve grand champion was shown by Izzy Heisdorffer.
Ben Flander, of English Valleys FFA, took third, and Lane Cason, with the Patriotic Panthers 4-H Club, placed fourth.
Reagan Clarahan, with Sigourney FFA, showed the champion market wether. Tri Lee took reserve champion market wether.
Landon Clarahan, with English Valleys FFA, took champion market doe, and Izzy Heisdorffer, took reserve.
Champion all other breeds market goat was shown by Allison Mather, with the Liberty Leaders 4-H Club.
Layken Lee won champion breeding doe, and Izzy Heisdorffer took reserve champion.
Ben Flander, of English Valleys FFA had the champion yearly breeding doe, and Lane Cason showed the reserve champion.
Conner O’Rourke showed the champion aged breeding doe, and Emily Sieren, with the Keswick Klover Leaves 4-H Club, took reserve champion aged breeding doe.
Reagan Clarahan took senior goat showmanship. Izzy Heisdorffer won intermediate goat showmanship and Trig Lee took the junior goat showmanship award.
The top five meat goat rate of gain awards were presented to Reagan Clarahan (champion goat rate of gain), Sawyer Cason (reserve champion), Luke Sieren, Landon Clarahan and Trig Lee.
