Coach picks up 1,000th win

Williamsburg boys’ golf coach Brad Schaefer picked up his 1,000th career win this month, according to Williamsburg Athletic Director Nathan King.
Schaefer’s team won the Mohawk Classic April 25 at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake.
The Raiders finished in a tie for fourth at the 22-team event. Washington won with a 298 card, and Williamsburg turned in a 315.
It capped a busy week for the Raiders that also saw them compete at the Oskaloosa Invitational April 23 at Edmundson Golf Course.
Washington won and Williamsburg was sixth, carding 328.
On Monday, April 22, the Raiders finished second in a triangular with Independence and Iowa City Regina at Stone Creek Golf Club in Williamsburg.
The Mustangs carded 148 and the Raiders were two shots back.

Williamsburg won the Solon Invitational on Tuesday, April 23, edging Clear Creek Amana by one stroke, 340 to 341, at Saddleback Ridge Golf Course in Solon.
The Raiders also won a triangular Monday, April 22, at Three Elms Golf Course in Independence. Williamsburg carded a 190 to top Independence (205) and South Tama (216).
Williamsburg was runner-up at the PCM Invitational on Thursday, April 25, at Gateway Recreation Golf Course. Gilbert won with a 332.
Jaisel Bott was the low score in all three events.
