Heart of Iowa series continues
The Heart of Iowa Dems continues their “Earth to Iowa!” climate series on Wednesday, April 26 at 7 p.m. with “What’s in Your Air?” Panelists will include Rob Hogg, former Iowa State Senator and chair of the Iowa Democratic Party Climate Caucus, and Jess Mazour, conservation program coordinator for the Iowa Chapter of the Sierra Club.

Ravenwolf Productions hosts Tempest
Ravenwolf Productions will host Celtic rock band Tempest with special guest A Rogue Wave beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, April 28, at the Ravenwolf performance venue 2283 240th St., Williamsburg. Since forming in 1988, Tempest has delivered a globally-renowned hybrid of high-energy folk rock fusing Irish reels, Scottish ballads, Norwegian influences and other world music elements. What Cheer Opera House show
The What Cheer Opera House presents The Mondeau Dukes at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 29. The acoustic duo from New Sharon will play classic tunes from the 60s through the 2000s, and new country. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at the door. Food and beverages will be served outdoors from 5:30 p.m. through intermission, provided by Grant Ranch Pub and Grub.
Hymn sing
Pleasant Grove Grace Brethren Church will host a community hymn sing at 6 p.m. Sunday, April 30. Anyone who wishes may share a piece of special music or a favorite reading with the congregation. Those attending are also invited to bring a finger food snack item to share during fellowship time afterward.
Genealogy Society open house
The Iowa County Genealogy Society is having an open house at their new location, 847 Washington St., Millersburg, from 1 to 4 p.m. May 6. Refreshments will be served and there will be a drawing for door prizes. You may also visit the Millersburg Public Library next door.
Williamsburg Kiwanis blood drive
The Williamsburg Kiwanis Club will host a Red Cross blood drive Tuesday, May 9, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hall, 102 East Penn St., Williamsburg. For an appointment, call (800) 733-2767 or visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code: KiwanisWilliamsburg. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Spring shop hop
The Iowa County spring shop hop will be held Saturday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Iowa County businesses interested in curating a unique, seasonal experience that encourages travel and commerce through the county are encouraged to align with the day and roll out the red carpet for visitors. A second event will be held Saturday, Oct. 14.
Amana Heritage Museum communal meals
The Amana Heritage Museum announces its summer communal dinner schedule. Events are planned for the following dates at the Communal Kitchen Museum, Middle Amana: Fridays, June 9 and 23, July 14 and Aug. 18 and 25. Hours are 5 to 7 p.m. each time. The July 14 event includes special dinner programming.
Communal meals are ticketed events, and tickets for each dinner will be available about a month before their scheduled date on amanaheritage.org. Meals are $30 per person and must be purchased online before the scheduled event. Programming and menus vary for each meal.
Benton County
Spring Celebration in Van Horne
The Van Horne Economic Development will hold a family spring celebration Saturday, May 13, on Main Street. There will be free games and prizes for kids of all ages, a vendor market at Birds of a Feather and more. This coincides with the last week of Benton Youth Soccer. The event will be held rain or shine, with indoor facilities already set up in case of bad weather.
Flea Market in Van Horne
Birds of a Feather will host its second annual flea market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3. There will be vendors both at Birds of a Feather and indoors at the Community Center. This is the same day as townwide garage sales in Van Horne and Newhall.
