Community Development director speaks to club

NORTH ENGLISH — Laura Sauser, director of Iowa County Community Development, presented the program for the Dec. 4 meeting of the North English Fortnightly Women’s Club at Susan Elwood’s home.
Sauser talked about her background, how she came into the position she now has and what she does.
Bonnie Romine presented Meditation by sharing a reading titled, “The Setting,” from a book of Helen Bucher’s that was gifted to Bonnie by Russ Bucher.
Nine members answered Roll Call by sharing an improvement in North English they would like to see.
Kathy Huber shared a thank-you note from the History Center for the money given in Linda Lee’s honor. She also gave the treasurer’s report. The Silent Auction raised $922, and one member paid dues. Expenses included $100 for the September and October programs and $50 to the History Center honoring Linda Lee.
The balance as Dec. 4 was $1,972.03.
The club voted to donate $100 to the Knoll Ridge pool fund.
Pat Denison reported on the Bingo games at the Care Center. Attendance was good and the three games went well.
Multiple News Flash topics were discussed — the recent snow, the coming vendor show and breakfast with Santa Saturday, Dec. 6 in North English.
The next meeting will be Feb. 12 at the History Center with Carol Montz and Katie Taukei hosting. Members are asked to bring four or five valentines that will be shared with the Community Center and Care Center residents.
